John Stephen Comino
Born 1949, Brisbane, Australia.
John has been a pastor for over four decades. He is the father of four children, grandfather to six and husband to Christine who he describes as “the greatest gift I have in my life”. John & Chris met at an archaeological dig at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in 1972. Chris likes to claim that she “Dug up John” during the course of the excavations.
After finishing his Theology Degree in the UK in 1973 he served congregations in the North Island of New Zealand, then in Sydney and Far North Queensland in Australia. During this time John gained experience in Public Bible Lectures that built local congregations in country centres.
From 1984 – 1997 John served churches in Tennessee and Washington DC. During his service In DC John presented a Christian radio program and began his MA in Urban Missiology with Fuller Seminary in Los Angeles under Prof Peter Wagner. John completed his time in the US as Regional Superintendent for the Mid-Atlantic congregations and Chairman of Evangelism for his denomination. After returning to Australia in 1997 John founded Sydney Community Church and more recently SALT (Spirit And Life Training) created to train and support Christian leaders in business, government and the Church.
The guiding theme of John’s ministry is to teach people to hear God for themselves. He believes that once believers are able to hear God for themselves they truly become disciples of Jesus Christ.
